Beyond thrilled to begin my Kill Your Darlings mentorship with the lovely Leanne Hall this month.
Kill Your Darlings have paired me with Leanne to work on my Middle Grade manuscript, The Cloud Factory. It’s an incredible opportunity to have Leanne’s guidance and support through the KYD Mentors Program. She’s been an inspiration to me ever since I saw her speak at the Emerging Writers Festival in 2017! We met for the first time yesterday and I am now buzzing with new ideas!
Leanne Hall is an award-winning Australian author for young adults and children. Her debut novel, This Is Shyness, was the winner of the Text Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Writing, and was followed by a sequel Queen of the Night. Her novel for younger readers, Iris and the Tiger, won The Patricia Wrightson Prize for Children’s Literature at the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. Her most recent YA novel, The Gaps, has been shortlisted in the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards and the Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature.
